So I’m kind of in total shock…… do you want to know why?…
Lately, people have been wanting to PAY ME to paint stuff (stuff being my highly unprofessional word for portraits and commissions)!!! I knew this is what I wanted to do, but I still can’t believe that it is actually happening, people want MY artwork hanging in their home… and what’s even more crazy then that? they want me to paint their children, the most beautiful amazing special part of any mother and fathers’ life. I feel so blessed at this moment in my life that I am able to do what I love and triple blessed that others like it as well! I am so thankful for everything happening in my world, first a move to Colorado (it’s like the most beautiful place ever), then the whole being payed to do what you love thing…. I am overwhelmed with joy and a whole new responsibility. I wanted to share with you all a few of the things I have been working on as of late, some paid and some not. Enjoy… oh and notice that new page at the top, go there and order custom paintings, or to order prints of previous illustrations, I would love to create something for you!

Above: My take on the inspiration, I loved the jewel tones of the feathers, and the almost ombre effect from the somewhat translucent pieces of feather. I was also inspired by the handle, with all of the straight lines, it inspired the tiny pleats/gathers in this mini collection! Also, you probably didn’t notice (I think I’m the only crazy one who will) but I have been working on switching up my style a bit (I’m really really realllllly fickle), and so these illustrations might seem a bit different then some others I have done in the past!

Hey all, so incase you haven’t noticed, I’ve been doing a terrible job keeping up with the ole’ blog thingy…. life happens I suppose, but hopefully I am back on the wagon!! I wanted to share a few things with you all, first is a video from Fox 4 News about Johnson County Community Colleges open house this Friday, November 4th to celebrate our costume collection! this is a free event, so please feel free to come by and check it out! Also, at the end of the video, you might notice the invitation (featured above, which yours truly illustrated and designed!) enjoy!!
ps…. you may remember these illustrations from a previous post titled The Collection.
Nothing to lift your spirits like illustrating a 1940’s Christian Dior and a 1970’s Bill Blass…. I die. At first I was a little afraid of all the black in these 2 aaaahhhmaaazing outfits, but once I sketched it out… I was in love! These will will also be used for The Costume Collection gala in Novermber for Johnson County Community College! They are going to print them on note cards and give each guest a set of 5 as a gift.. isn’t that so adorable!
(this one above is just a quick one I did for fun that actually inspired me to try some real yoga illustrations)
Ok friends, I really hope you will excuse my horendous lack of posts this past 2 or so weeks (super sad face). Alas, life has gotten in the way… but I am back on the wagon and am presenting to you a series I did a while back that I was saving for the right time to share!! Well as you can see it’s yoga inspired and was a ton of fun to do! I was inspired by my sister-in-law when she asked if I could put together a few illustrations to possibly be printed on t-shirts for her gym, and it turned out to be one of the most fun projects I have ever done! I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed making them <3333
p.s. I think it would be incredibly fun to be a designer for yoga wear!!
So, I have been having a serious lack of inspiration/motivation over the past few days. I think I may have started about 4 illustrations, only to get about half way in and realize… ew no! So this morning I finally felt a bit more up to the task and I got one done (YAAAYY!!). I used my inspiration vacationpost entitled “seaside pastels & charcoal grey” to get me going, but somehow ended up with what appears to be a Grecian inspired look… but I do have to say, I really like it!! I dunno, I kinda feel like the true colors didn’t really transfer through the scan, which always bums me out 😦
I was totally feeling these lovely pastels, they make me think seaside, 195o’s and cupcakes!! Had to make it a bit more my taste though, so I added a nice charcoal grey to ground all those “fluffy” colors (yes I just made that up…wow). This weeks illustrations will center around the beach, pencil skirts, lace and pastels!! Hope you enjoy and feel inspired!!
Ok! so I am taking a little break from this weeks Fall for Shopping theme, to bring you a little something different! These are 3 illustrations I did for a project where we had to draw a different body type (i.e. men, baby, kid, tween, junior, maternity). I chose to try my had at a tween style illustration, annnnd this is what I came up with…. the first image is my concept board for the three drawings above…they are a little springy but I love the colors even for fall!!
Hope you enjoy!!
